I have been an endurance athlete since 2999, when I ran my first marathon to get in shape after college. I was going to be a triathlete, but fell in love with bikes and explored every discipline out there. I mostly cycle, (road, mountain and cyclocross,) and still run for fitness with my dogs. I was diagnosed in 2011 with Wegener's disease, which is a chronic auto-immune illness that attacks the small lining of the lungs and kidneys. I was in coma for a month and had to learn how to walk again. Since then, I have been pushing my limits to keep my lungs strong.
