I am a Southern Louisiana girl, mom, & Pediatrician, and have enjoyed the transformation from an inactive lifestyle for a decade and reclaiming my inner athlete in 2009. I grew up in competitive swimming, and my Coach shape our team mantra: "Be the Best YOU Can Be", and it has stayed with me throughout my life. In 2013 during a training ride, I was hit by a car in a near fatal accident. I was casted in all four extremities, and survived a severe liver laceration that nearly killed me from internal hemorrhage. Throughout the year of recovery and six surgeries, in and out of a wheelchair, I kept finding the fun. I found Nuun this past year and have used it for my long rides, as well as at work as pre- and post workout day hydration. At a busy Pediatric office, it is easy to get behind on water intake, and I completely love how easy I can drink 24oz at a time when I drop some Nuun new-watermelon in. I now recommend it to my patients!
As a former swimmer, I never ran, ever. So I had to convince myself to learn to run. My first triathlon was in 2010, first 13.1 was in 2011, and 70.3 was in 2012. I usually compete in 6 triathlons per year and a few 5-10K running events or duathlons. The accident was in September 2013, and one year later I did a sprint triathlon, and two years later, last weekend, I completed Ironman Florida, my first Ironman!!
