Travis McKenzie

elite team nuun athlete

sport: Triathlon

I grew up in Australia and found Triathlon at an early age. In 1992, I ran down the finish chute at the Hawaii Ironman with his Dad as an impressionable and eager 10 year old. I declared then and there that I would race in the Ironman World Championships one day. I have obsessed about Triathlon ever since. I love everything about the sport. The gear, the training, the racing, the people, the highs, the lows! I am most passionate about seeing others chase their biggest goals and giving them the tools to pursue their own level of excellence. I am committed to helping under privileged and at-risk youth experience the joys and fulfillment of sport through my Swim, Bike, Run, Inspire program.

I have coached athletes to Kona, Boston Marathon Qualification, and Ironman 70.3 World Championships and have 20 Years of ‘on the job’ learning from some of the World’s best athletes and coaches.

I was recently injured in a bike crash where I dislocated my hip, fractured my ribs, scapula and 4 vertebrae in my neck. I required emergency surgery on my neck to save me from becoming paralyzed. Good news is, I am walking and I am recovering slowly, but surely. I am getting stronger everyday and dreaming of getting back to training and racing. My short term goal is to be back racing in Kona in 2016, although the long term goal is become Ultraman World Champion
