When I eat pasta, I like to keep it simple with a traditional marinara only has a hand full of ingredients. This is a base recipe that's quick to make, and it's easy to add additional ingredients to match the flavor of the week. For example, add diced carrots, celery, and your protein of choice to make it into a heart bolognaise sauce.
This sauce freezes well, so you can make a batch in bulk and store it for future weeknight dinners.
1 32 oz can Organic Roma Tomatoes (diced)
1 sweet onion (medium, diced)
4-5 garlic cloves (minced)
1 tbsp. olive oil
½ tbsp. chopped basil
½ tsp. dried oregano
Salt and Pepper to taste
- Wash and dry produce.
- In a medium sized pot, heat oil, and sauté onion until translucent.
- Add minced garlic, and lower the heat. Sauté for 3-5 minutes.
- Stir in tomatoes, and seasoning. Simmer for an additional 10 minutes under low heat.
- Serve over your favorite pasta.
It's as simple as that! Your weeknight dinners just got a lot easier.
