Over the past few months, thankfully several athletes have been retroactively awarded Olympic and World Championship medals. Each of these athletes dedicated years of hard work for a chance to earn that medal, and this is vindication of everything they’ve given to their sport. But for many, this moment brings mixed feelings.
A decade late, they are unable to share a moment of pride with their country on the podium. There are no tears of joy to take in what they just achieved, there is no prize money, and there are no sponsorship bonuses. And often, there is little communication from their sport's federation

Over the past two years we’ve been working very hard on creating a product that would aid in hydration, as well as health and wellness for those times we’re not exercising. Why? Because how you recover and strengthen your immune system will help determine the effectiveness of subsequent workouts. And we know hydration, as well as some key vitamins, will aid in boosting your immune system and ensuring your muscles and bones stay healthy.
So what is nuun vitamins?
It’s almost time for one of our favorite seasons… no, not the winter holidays, we’re talking about ambassador application season! We look forward to this experience as we connect with our most dedicated and enthusiastic fans, and have the opportunity to invite new athletes to apply to be part of our nuun family! Don’t sell yourself short, compete clean!
Last month, I spent an inspiring few days up in the mountains of Whistler at a retreat led by the soulful athletes at Lululemon. The challenge at this retreat was less about the 12-mile mountain trail runs and more about self reflection and personal purpose. The challenge was clear: ‘we are going to have some big talk conversations versus the safe and boring small talk’.
Coming out of this retreat, I realized that we must start having the ‘big talk’ around competing clean in sport. We hold up a few doping (cheating) scapegoats that have been caught to demonstrate that we believe it is unacceptable. But have we really stepped back to think about why doping is bad? And why competing clean is the correct choice for our competition, for ourselves, and for the true spirit of sport? Just as important, what actions are we taking to create positive change? Clean sport an important initiative, both for me personally and for the industry at large. Here’s why.
These 6 nuun athletes are headed south for the competition of their lives, but you won't hear us congratulating them in August. Here's why.
Next month, the eyes of the world will turn to the big games that only happen once every 4 years. Sports that don't get a lot of attention during the other three years, like track & field, are suddenly front and center, and it's these athletes' turn to shine. But at a time when their value is highest, they are unable to capitalize on it. Companies that don't sponsor the games, such as nuun, are unable to mention the event or the athletes' names during the blackout period. This is meant to prevent companies from capitalizing on the games, but it also effectively stops us from congratulating or wishing them "good luck" in any way publicly.
We consider each and every one of our athletes part of our nuun family, and wish we could show our support. But just because we can't, doesn't mean you can't.
One area of hydration that has gotten a lot of attention over the past couple years is the art of pre-loading. Pre-loading (I like to refer to it as topping off) your electrolyte stores will play a key function in exercise performance, particularly under tougher conditions such as extreme heat or endurance events. There are three main benefits to pre-loading:Read More
if you're reading our blog, you more than likely already know what nuun is.
nuun is a drink tablet that when added to water creates a healthy sports drink. nuun is a community of people and athletes always striving to beat our own best in everything we do. nuun is a lifestyle that embraces doing the right thing for the good of ourselves, other people, and the planet.
... then you are missing the opportunity.
Two and half years ago, we asked ourselves the question: if we started all over again, how would we design nuun? Would it be the exact same product we designed ten years ago that revolutionized the sports drink market? Surely, with everything we have learned and experienced in the last 10 years, we can find a better way, right? There must be a better way to deliver performance. There must be a better way to make our planet healthier, and there must be a better way to help facilitate clean sport with fair and ethical competition. These are some big questions that we are tackling to bring positive change. The first question we addressed was starting all over on delivering better performance.
One of the key upgrades we made to our formula was the minimal addition of sugar, or in our case the addition of dextrose (d-glucose). And one thing we wanted to make sure everyone (both here at nuun and our consumers) knew is why we did what we did, and how it will help ultimately make the product better. Because in the end, we truly are on a mission to help you achieve life’s next pb, and one of the easiest ways we can do that is offering the best performing product.Read More
