Nuuntini Testing: Nuun Paloma

A perfect marriage between a greyhound and a margarita, the Paloma is a bubbly and uplifting citrus cocktail. I love how refreshing it tastes – and think it would make a perfect post-run pick-me-up as a nuuntini!

3 things you must expect from your sport nutrition brands

Imagine training with your favorite sport nutrition and hydration brands for months and with great success. Then imagine achieving your personal best on race day using those same sport nutrition products only to find out you unintentionally consumed a banned substance. I know you are thinking that this would never happen to me. But don’t be so sure. This past week I was surprised after reading three athletes had been given suspensions for consuming a banned substance, one of them being on the 2016 nuun elite team.

Do I believe our athlete knowingly ingested a prohibited substance? The answer is simply no, I don’t believe that based on the information I have read. But this situation highlights a big issue at hand for athletes and the industry at large. There are so many options for athletes when it comes to sport nutrition. Many of them are solid, quality products. But how can any athlete trust that their nutrition is, in fact, “clean?”

from running to cycling & back

by mike sommers, field marketing lead

as a lifelong runner, cycling had always been intriguing to me. the two sports seem to have a lot in common on paper and so it has always been on my list of activities to give a shot. it wasn’t until I had a major lapse in running motivation this past summer and sold my car that I decided to make a concerted effort to improve my skills on two wheels.

luckily for me, I already had a road bike thanks to some gentle prodding from some of my co-workers a few years back. ...

nutrition and training

no, this isn't a blog from Vishal with tips of proper nutrition. (though we do have more coming!) This is about my very real struggle with nutrition while training for a half marathon.

Last year was the first time I'd ever run 8 miles...then 10 miles...then 12. I've previously mentioned that I didn't like running until recently, so I never pushed the distance that far. When I started running farther, I realized something felt off. Every time I tried to run last fall, my legs felt heavy and my calves felt tight. It didn't matter how easy previous runs had been, how much I stretched before hand, or how much I foam-rolled afterwards.

Nuuntini Testing: Whiskey Ginger Lemonade

The whiskey ginger is a classic – I love the spicy nip from the ginger, and the warming roundness of the rye. It’s a cold cocktail, but can still be enjoyed in winter weather.

Our version with Nuun Vitamins also significantly reduces the sugar content, as we get to eschew ginger beer or ginger ale for sparkling water and a Nuun tablet. So you get to sip away, guilt-free!

Winter Hydration Matters

We are now fully exposed to the winter season, and with that means changes in environmental conditions that require the body to be on top of its natural defense system. What is troubling for scientist and nutritionist alike, is that athletes convince themselves that they do not need to consume as much as fluid (during exercise) as they would when temps are a bit warmer. That couldn’t be less true. In fact, winter hydration is just as important as hydration in any other season.

Here’s why...

the juice: citrus ginger

With the hustle and bustle of the holidays behind us, we’re settling into those New Year vibes, rooted in the lessons learned in 2016 and giddy to see to what 2017 has in store. It’s in the quiet calm of January that we’re able to find comfort in the old but connect with the new, to start small but dream big, to refuel, refresh + re-energize, ready to make the next year nothing short of epic.

Oh, epic you say? Like it’s easy? Well it kinda is .. First, let’s put some pen to paper and try to find that thing that screens + Snapchat filters annihilated .. IMAGINATION! Dream big kids .. imagine what you want this year to hold - whether it be a new PR, your first ultra, your first puppy, or even a brand new boyfriend thats going to be all like “hey, did you lose weight? let me make you breakfast, you look ravishing today.” Whatever it is, write it down; a handwritten vision is like asking the Universe for express delivery.
