the temps are starting to fall and the leaves are starting to change. that must mean fall marathon season is finally here! there are a lot of great courses out there, but these are our favorites.
Arielle, brand manager: The Portland Marathon was my first marathon, and I loved EVERYTHING about it! It’s the perfect balance between a big and small race feel; getting to the starting corrals was easy and you have company (but not crowding) throughout the race. The course travels through quite a few residential neighborhoods, and each neighborhood hosts block parties and cheer stations to encourage the runners and keep spirits high. I can’t recommend this race enough!
Lynn, inventory manager: Seconded! The Portland Marathon in October is hands down my favorite marathon! The city is so fun to visit and beautiful to run through! The marathon itself offers great course support, nice swag, and everyone receives a tree at the finish line to take home and plant! Bonus: There is usually an unofficial beer stop at mile 24ish from a local brewery.
Steve, socal sales guru: My favorite marathon course was my first – the NYC Marathon. There’s nothing quite like running all 5 boroughs, over massive bridges, among thousands of people. New York comes out HARD for this race. Take a chance and enter that lottery, it’s so worth it!
Vishal, chief nutritionist: There's nothing like taking a turn onto Columbus Drive and having thousands of strangers cheer you on from the grand stands. The finish line at the Chicago Marathon is truly something special! Not too often does the entire city of Chicago shuts down for 44,000+ runners and 2 million+ spectators!
Corey, field marketing: I love the Marine Corps. The streets are lined with people almost the entire time. I have never cried at a race due to emotions (only pain), but the focus on the US military is over whelming. Along with all the course support, time flies by because of the beautiful views. There is a real reason as to why this is a lottery.
Robby, field marketing: The Boston Marathon is my favorite road marathon course. My main reason: THE AWESOME SPECTATORS!! Every other race I’ve run has nowhere near the amount of folks yelling, even screaming you on to the finish line. Yes the course itself is a challenge, but the power of the connection between the runner and all the smiling faces along the way totally make up for the brutal hills that are encountered. The spring weather is also a great reward for those of us training through harsh winter weather. (okay, so it's not a fall marathon, but still a must-run!)
now we want to know yours! shout out your favorite marathon in the comments below!
Agreed with Corey- the Marine Corps Marathon is epic. First Marathon was Air Force Marathon…. the Start and Finish Lines are at the National Museum of the United States Air Force, emotional way to finish under the airplane wing!
