My mother was the most giving, caring person I have ever known. Losing her to breast cancer in 2014 taught me two important lessons that now guide my decisons: 1. If I can do something to help others, I should do so with joy in my heart, and 2. Life is too short to wait for "someday" when I have the power to choose right now what makes me happy. Along those lines, to honor my mom I'm working toward my Master of Social Work degree and I've given up track/road racing in favor of running joyfully on trails where my heart feels so much lighter.
