After successful high school (Michigan City High School) and collegiate (Marquette University) careers, I chose to pursue a PhD in analytical chemistry at Indiana University while simultaneously training for half and full marathons. During this time, I ran a 1:18:06 half marathon at the 2012 Brooklyn Half, and also a 2:47:54 full marathon at the 2015 Pittsburgh Marathon. At the beginning of my 5th year of graduate school, I decided to go "all in" and take a semester off from school to find out if training full time would help me achieve my dream of qualifying for the Olympic Trials. On October 4th, 2015, I ran 2:38:39 at the Twin Cities Marathon, thus achieving my goal.
