I grew up in Tucson, AZ and started swimming at age 8. I had lots of success when I was younger and worked up through the junior team and "B" team ranks of USA swimming. I narrowly missed out on making the 2008 Olympic team. Shortly after that I moved to California to attend school at the University of California Berkeley. I had a really awesome coaching staff and amazing teammates who pushed me beyond what I thought I could do. Hard work paid off in NCAA titles and a berth on the 2012 Olympic Team in the 200 and 400 Individual Medley. Once in London I finished with a bronze medal in the 200IM. Since London I have experienced some post Olympic depression and struggled to stay on top. I am currently fighting my way back to the top of my sport and training as hard as I can to qualify for the 2016 Olympic Team. I got married in Jan 2015 to Collin Smith, who was a water polo player at Cal when we met.
