Dana Robertson Halter

team nuun athlete

sport: running

I'm a lifelong athlete and mother of 6-year-old Cassandra and 4-year-old McKenna. I started swimming competitively at six, began racing triathlons after college, switched to bike racing in 2004 because triathlons were too lonely, and then went back to racing solo (marathons) after having Cassie in 2009. I work full time for Premera Blue Cross as a communications manager, and launched the LifeWise Ambassador Program in 2013 to share stories of health and wellness (you can learn about the program here - http://www.activelynorthwest.com/author/lifewise-ambassadors/; my favorite post on triathlon is here: http://www.activelynorthwest.com/inspiration/living-lifewise-triathlon-inspiration/). I'm also a published author - my essay will appear in an anthology of women's stories, "So Glad They Told Me: Women On Getting Real About Motherhood", in the spring of next year. I'm an extrovert and social media addict, and strive to make people laugh and keep it real on Facebook and on Instagram.

I was the president of Team Group Health (women's cycling team) from 2006-2008 and worked with nuun's founder way-back-when. I've been a HUGE fan ever since and have been spreading the nuun love for almost a decade! I'm a Category 2 cyclist on the road and have raced all over the US. I'm also an elite triathlete, and competed in the World Age Group Championships in Madeira, Portugal in 2003. I took a decade-long break from triathlon and returned in 2014, winning the Lake Meridian Sprint Triathlon that summer and placing second in the Mercer Island Escape from the Rock. In 2015, I completed my first half ironman - Pacific Crest in Bend, Oregon - in 5:38, placing 11th overall. I also won the Lakewood Summerfest Triathlon and was second in the Black Diamond Sprint Triathlon. I was a college swimmer, and specialized in long distance (the 1650, 1000, 500 free, 400 IM and 200 fly). In between cycling and kids, I switched to marathons, running a 3:30 full marathon and a 1:34:59 half marathon.
