My name is David Sevcik. I am 25 and living in Denver, Colorado. I come from a big family of 5 boys and 1 girl. I grew up in Cedar Falls and never saw myself as a runner. My favorite sport was always basketball and soccer. I started running to get in shape for those two sports. As time would pass I started finding more success with running than anything else. This is where I really started to focus more on running. I would first qualify for the Boston Marathon on age 18, and now at 25 I have run it 6 times. My best finish was in 2015 where I ran 2:26:35 and placed 49th.
At Iowa State I made a lot of my best friends through the running club. This was a group myself and 5 other students founded. It grew beyond our wildest dreams to over 150 members and individual and team podium finishes at national events. I was an individual half marathon champion as well as on a team XC runner-up, and multiple half marathon team championships.
