I was born into an active, athletic family - literally growing up on the cross country course and track! All of our family vacations were centered around USATF nationals and it developed some of my best memories of my life - plus a national championship title! I was blessed enough to take my running talents to college on a full ride scholarship to the University of Minnesota where i competed in the heptathlon - which is neat because my 2 younger brothers followed in my footsteps there as well. I was part of the 1st ever Big Ten team titles at the U of MN and as NCAA regional qualifier in the javelin and heptathlon - still ranking in the top 10 of all time school results. I also was lucky enough to meet my husband through track - as he ran at SDSU.
After college, my competitive spirit continued to burn and I became more and more involved in long distance running (thanks to my mom - an accomplished multi marathon finisher!). I went from thinking the 800m was long in the heptathlon to running 3 or more miles every day! Before I knew it, I was racing my first half marathon and various other road races. Even winning a few 5k's for my age group! Road races soon turned into triathlons - due to my husband's influence and now we continue to compete in triathlons and road races together. We look forward to the friendly competition between eachother every day in practice and at the meets! As well as inspiring our young boys (ages 2 and soon to be born) to live a healthy, active lifestyle and enjoy all the outdoors has to offer.
