Coach Lance was born to coach. Mix 20+ years of racing experience, a strong exercise science background, and a personality that is contagious and you get Coach Lance Leo. A guy who can light up a room and is friends with everyone. Lance is intense and shares this intensity at the right time with each endurance athlete he coaches.
In the past fifteen years, Lance has learned his craft working in both clinical and non-clinical settings. He has worked for the Denver Broncos Sports Medicine Clinic in Colorado as an Exercise Specialist, at the prestigious Duke Diet & Fitness Center in Durham and has served as an Exercise Physiologist at the ViQuest Wellness Center in Greenville. From 2001 to present Lance has worked as a triathlon coach in North Carolina and Minnesota. In his early years as a coach he worked at Run For Your Life as the Director of Coaching. This position served as a springboard to him working as a Head Coach with TriMyCoach / Studio7Multisport. He would eventually go on to start his own business in Charlotte, NC; Coach Lance, LLC where he established himself for almost 5 years. In 2012 Lance moved his family to Minneapolis in an effort to build the Endurance program of Life Time Fitness at St Louis, Park, MN. He has real world experience that has shaped him into the highly regarded endurance athlete and coach that he is today.
Coach Lance works with a wide range of athletes from the true novice to the Ultraman athlete. He has the ability to draw the best out of each athlete he works with by identifying and eliminating weak links and building on their strengths. This has been proven time and time again by the accomplishments of his athletes ranging from completing their first 10K race to earning Pro Status as an elite triathlete.
Coach Lance talks the talk and has walked the walk. His personal accomplishments in triathlon are impressive. Lance has raced at the Big Island, raced with Team USA, earned countless All-American honors, was a formidable force at the North Carolina Triathlon Series (NCST) and now here in Minnesota. His current Ironman PR is a 9:40 at Florida and has 6 Ironman finishes under his belt. As a seasoned coach, he can share the proven techniques and methods he has used to shape himself and others.
Lance knows exercise science and what it takes to bring the best out of each person he interacts with. He also knows what buttons to push. Sometimes it is a few words of encouragement and sometimes it is a smile at mile 20. Coach Lance is in your corner and he looks forward to surpassing your expectation of what you think you can accomplish.
