My name is Miranda, but you can call me Randi! I love to be outside and explore as much as I can. My dog, Emmie, loves to accompany me on my runs, hikes, and mountain bike adventures. I live in a beautiful area, Bristol in East Tennessee, with no shortage of awesome things to get into. In addition to all the natural scenery, there's an awesome music and arts culture here in the Tri-Cities. I feel pretty lucky to live here. I'm currently a bioinformatics undergrad at King University here in Bristol. I'm up front about my nerd status. I enjoy studying and learning about all sorts of subjects. I'm also on my school's cycling team; I ride year-round, racing mountain, 'cross, and road. My goal in life is to explore my adventurous spirit, experience as many things as I can, and overall bring some positivity to others.
Having gone from believing that I was nonathletic and incapable of ever being athletic to where I am today is a huge accomplishment to me. In the past 2 years, I went from being essentially sedentary and unhappy to riding on my school's cycling team. Telling myself, "Hey, I can do this!" instead of focusing on the negative thoughts changed my life. In the past year and a half, I began mountain biking. Mountain biking constantly teaches me something every time I hit the trails; it's the most gratifying fun to suffer through. To go from being a rookie to being a part of the 2015 D2 Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championship winning team is my greatest athletic accomplishment to date - but that doesn't mean I'm ready to stop there. I'm ready to work even harder to do it again next year.
