My name is Samantha Achterberg and I train and compete in the sport of modern pentathlon which consists of fencing, swimming, horse jumping, running, and shooting. I was born and raised in Littleton, Colorado where I grew up with a passion for multi-sports. I was involved in skiing, soccer, swimming, hunting, tennis, horseback riding, pretty much anything outdoors which ultimately led me into pentathlon about 6 years ago. I dealt with many injuries in high school sports and after working with a new coach that really started helping me get stronger mentally and physically. This ultimately helped me make the step into training as a full time athlete at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, and part time student at DeVry University, with the hopes of making an Olympic team and qualifying for Rio in 2016!
