I became a runner when an injury to my hand in my last year at the University of North Texas kept me from being able to play the harp. With so much free time I found myself running farther and farther. Before I knew it I was a marathoner and now an ultramarathoner.
I was in love with distance as soon as I ran my first marathon. Once I got better at the distance I wanted to be faster. I got my personal training certification with specializations in Corrective Exercise and Performance Enhancement from NASM and running coach certification from RRCA in order to train myself. It's working! I'm still getting faster. I went from being a 4:15 marathoner to 3:08 with my sights set on breaking the 3 hour mark.
I've also started running ultras and can't wait to see where they take me!
