I ran track in 10th grade and did recreational (non-competitive) gymnastics throughout high school and college. On three separate occasions during my gymnastics career I manage to sustain knee injuries that required surgery, but I kept going back because I loved it so much. Once I graduated and moved to San Diego for work, I traded in gymnastics for group exercise classes at the gym. In 2013 I decided to get serious about fitness, worked with a personal trainer, and lost close to 50 pounds. That same year I went through Zumba and Turbo Kick instructor training and started running more. In August 2014 I ran my first half marathon and completed it in 1:40:20. I have run several halfs, 5Ks, and 10Ks since then. In October 2015 I completed my first full marathon - and qualified for the Boston Marathon in the process! I can't wait to run Boston in 2017 and see where else my amateur running career takes me!
