Keep Your Hydration Habits—Even When Life Gets Busy

When life throws you a curveball, how do you stay hydrated?

During busy times or changes to your routine, keeping your healthy hydration habits is crucial to feeling your best. Don’t worry—we have tips to help prevent dehydration from holding you back. Here’s how to stay hydrated morning, nuun and night!

Sneaky Hydration Habit Disruptors

Disruption to your daily routine—even when it’s a FUN disruption—can cause hydration to fall by the wayside. We identified some of the most common dehydrating situations, along with crowd-sourced tips to keep hydration front of mind.

Busy Days at the Office

  • Keep a water bottle at your desk…always. Whether you’re tackling a big to-do list at the office or working from home, having water close at hand is the perfect reminder to take frequent sips.

  • Make that mid-morning meeting electrolyte packed. Add Nuun to your bottle and finish drinking it before the meeting wraps. You’ll be that much closer to your daily hydration goals. (Wondering, “How much water should I drink a day?” Women should aim for 2.7 liters of fluids per day, while men should get about 3.7 liters.)

Endurance Excursions

  • Prep for endurance outings. How you hydrate the day before a big event is critical. Add electrolytes (Nuun…duh) to your water in the afternoon, the day before your adventure, to help prep your body in advance.

  • Hydrate before, during, and after your endurance endeavor. The longer you go, the more you need…hydration and fuel, that is. Whether you’re running a marathon or enjoying a group workout, it’s best to start hydrated, stay hydrated, and finish hydrated!

Travel Time

  • When it’s time to pre-board, remember to pre-hydrate! Air travel can be a major dehydrator, since planes have low humidity levels and can leave your whole body feeling like the Sahara. Adding electrolytes to your water before a flight is an easy way to ensure you arrive at your destination with some pep in your step.

  • Electrolyte tablets are SO portable. Ten tablets in that tiny tube can power your entire trip…and they’re TSA approved!

Summer Sun

  • Sip your way through sunny days. When the heat is at its highest, getting dehydrated is too easy. Make it a rule: If you’re spending time outside in the summer, your bottle should be topped off with electrolytes.

Don’t let dehydration prevent you from being your best in every situation life throws at you. A little bit of proactive hydration goes a long way toward powering your adventures, big and small.
