Rest Day Routine Revamp

Rest Days are crucial to training regimens and personal wellbeing but what if sitting on the couch all day drinking tea is not your cup of tea? We asked our community about their favorite Rest Day activities and accessories and we’re sharing a selection with you. Enjoy!

Meditation- Everyone agrees it’s good for you but getting started on a new meditation practice can be a challenge. However, like most things these days, there’s an app for that! We’ve tried both Calm and Headspace and found them both to be good for easing newbies into meaningful meditation practices.

Tub time- Craving a little pampering? A soak in the tub is a recipe for relaxation. If you’re feeling fancy you can add a Lush bath bomb to the mix or adorn your face with one of their masks. We dig Lush’s commitment to clean planet and clean ingredients. Plus, we love anything that fizzes in water…

Stretching and Foam Rolling- Not only is it good for your muscles, it’s also a good time to listen to calming music or your favorite audiobook. Take your time, do a quick walk warm up, and then use your stretch session as an opportunity to check in with your body. If you’ve been training intensely a Rest Day stretch session is especially important.

Gentle Activities- For some folks the most challenging thing about a Rest Day is the resting part. If you’re the type who can’t sit still consider trying a gentle, low-impact activity on your Rest Day. Some of the suggestions we received from our followers include gardening, cooking, walking in nature, taking a yoga class, and playing fetch with your dog. Just make sure that whatever activity you choose has the main goal of relaxing and rejuvenating your body and spirit. Don’t use your Rest Day as an excuse to tackle that strenuous landscaping project!

Naps- Got an extra hour? Grab an hour of sleep! If you’re not used to napping, we think that practice makes perfect. Our followers also recommend weighted blankets and eye masks to encourage your body to give in to that mid-day sleep session.

Nuun Rest- We designed Nuun Rest with three key-ingredients to support your body’s relaxation responses. Magnesium, tart-cherry and potassium all play a role in relaxing the major muscle groups, reducing inflammation, relieving stress and tension from the body. If you haven’t tried it yet, Nuun Rest could be the missing ingredient to elevate your Rest Day routine.

Feeling refreshed already? Give one, two, or all of these Rest Day additions a try and let us know how it goes for you! Did we leave off any Rest Day activities you can’t live without? Share them with us in the comments below!
