Running Motivation from the Pros
It can be tough to feel motivated to get moving some days. Work is stressful. Life is stressful. And the older we get, the more tired we might feel every day. Now imagine that you have these same problems and you’re a professional athlete, and it’s your job to move your body. If they can do it, even on days when they don’t want to get out of bed, so can you.
The thing about running is that it gives us a chance to see what we are made of when it gets tough… Celebrate the challenges, known and unknown, that happen in any race. Embrace the opportunity to show your inner fire and push through the hurt.
- AnnMarie Kirkpatrick
AnnMarie Kirkpatrick competed in the 2020 Olympic Trials Marathon, but getting to that point didn’t come easily. As a mother of two young boys with a spouse who traveled for more than half the year, training for races was exhausting, and she often felt a lot of loneliness and self-doubt. What kept her going was the joy of training and competing and moving her body.
I tell myself to just keep going, around this corner, over this bridge, down these stairs, up to this town, one more step, one more step.
- Tyler Andrews
Long-distance runner and mountaineer Tyler Andrews has set records ascending (and descending) some of the world’s most iconic mountains. In 2020, he completed the Everest Base Camp Trail with the fastest known time of under 24 hours for a round-trip trek. During his final 11 miles down the iconic mountain, he found himself wanting to stop and rest, but he knew he had to keep going. He reasoned that he could feel sorry for himself or push through – he chose the latter and used the above quote to keep himself moving.
Let the inspirational stories from our Nuun Ambassadors motivate you to move your body.
Hydration, Health, and Fitness Inspiration
Hitting your fitness goals won’t happen overnight. If you want to run a marathon, climb a mountain, or just get in better shape, you’ll have to work for what you want, but hitting your hydration goals might make things a little easier.
At Nuun, we’re big believers in staying hydrated all day so you’re ready to hit the ground running before you even start moving. Being well-hydrated keeps you moving forward – so why wait until you’re dehydrated to replenish and recover? Nuun Sport provides a great balance of ingredients for mineral replenishment and optimal hydration before/during/after your workout.
For effervescent Nuun hydration – minus the sugar – try Nuun Zero Sugar tablets. They’re great for daily use and contain five essential electrolytes to keep you hydrated.

Find Motivation Through Community
It can be challenging to stay motivated in your fitness journey, especially if you’re just starting. That’s why it’s important to find your community! Whether you plan to join a group workout class or run with a friend, other people can influence your attitude and emotional response to exercise.[1] If you get to know people who run regularly and enjoy it, you’ll start to perceive running as a more enjoyable, doable experience!1
One way to find a community of like-minded athletes or running buddies is to check with your local athletic shoe store; many of them host run clubs that are a great way to meet people of all abilities. Another is to try a group fitness class – there’s bound to be one in your area that you’re interested in, whether it’s cycling, pilates, HIIT, or some kind of dance-based cardio.
No matter how you get moving, make sure you’re staying hydrated before, during, and after your exercise session by adding Nuun Sport or Nuun Zero Sugar.
